Globally Focused, Innovative, Connected – WMS is Engaging the Future

On the 6 – 10 March 2022, WNTI participated in the 48th Waste Management Symposium in Phoenix, Arizona, USA.

With over 2100 nuclear waste industry delegates from more than 30 countries, the symposium was a huge success, and it was great to see many of our industry professionals in person, after nearly 2 years of virtual meetings.

We were delighted to exhibit in UK Pavilion, with so many innovative UK companies involved in all aspects of nuclear waste management. We engaged with many symposium visitors, promoting the WNTI membership and the work we do.

WNTI’s Regulatory and Design Specialist, Scott Edwards, North American Representative, Eileen Supko and Secretary General, Martin Porter, attended many of the 150 technical sessions, particularly focusing on those in Track 5 – Packaging and Transportation.

STEM Initiative

During this year’s event there was a focus on STEM education for younger students, paving the way for the future of the waste management industry and addressing workforce issues. Here at WNTI, we find initiatives such as this inspirational for our own future events, including PATRAM 22. We enjoyed engaging with many students during the poster session, it was extremely positive to see new and innovative ideas from the exhibiting students. and look forward to staying connected in future.

PATRAM 22

During the symposium we received the exciting news that the rescheduled PATRAM 22 had new dates and location confirmed and the P22 chair and co-chair representatives could meet and discuss in person. Programme Committee Chair, Frederic Ledroit, made the announcement during one of the panel sessions, which was received extremely positively.
