Farewell to Our Secretary General, Martin Porter

Posted:

5 April 2024

This week, after four remarkable years leading the World Nuclear Transport Institute, our esteemed Secretary General, Martin Porter, has completed his term at WNTI.

Martin has been a driving force behind WNTI, dedicating his time and expertise to ensure the advancement and recognition of the nuclear transport industry. His leadership has steered us through numerous challenges and successes, leaving a lasting impact on the industry and our organisation.

Martin’s vision, passion and commitment have been instrumental in achieving key milestones and strengthening the global dialogue on the safe and secure transportation of nuclear and radioactive materials, particularly through global challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic. He will be sincerely missed by the entire team, who have not only admired his professional dedication but also greatly valued his personal warmth and guidance.

I’m sure our members and industry colleagues will join the WNTI Team in raising a glass to Martin and celebrate his time leading WNTI and wishing him all the best for the future.

Messages from some of the WNTI Team

“Martin,

As you bid farewell to this chapter of your journey, remember that leaving a job is not just an end, but the beginning of a new adventure. Your resilience during the era of Covid, your guidance through challenging times, and your instrumental role in steering us to success, with the triumphant PATRAM, will forever be appreciated.

Embrace this change with a smile, for it opens the door to endless possibilities. Life is too short to be confined by one job; go forth and explore your true potential. We will miss you dearly, but we are excited to see the incredible contributions you will make wherever your path leads within the industry.

Thank you for everything.
Best wishes on your next journey.

“Martin, It has been an honour working with you! You arrived at WNTI with enthusiasm, energy, and vision, and it had been a pleasure seeing WNTI grow into a more forward thinking and focused organisation. We will all miss you! Wishing you and Tracey all the best for the future!”
Simon Chaplin WNTI Maritime and Security Specialist
“Martin, it has been an absolute pleasure working with you over the last 4 years. We started WNTI at the same time and I can’t imagine what it’s going to be like without you there. I cannot express my gratitude for all the wisdom, patience and encouragement you have given me. Your support has been unwavering, particularly during the PATRAM 22 organisation and keeping the team together during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

You will be missed, but I expect it won’t be long until our paths cross again. I will be looking forward to plenty of new stories when they do!

Wishing you all the happiness, success, and adventure that the world can offer. I hope this next phase of your journey be as rewarding and fulfilling as your time at WNTI has been for all of us.
