Honeywell Uranium Conversion Facility Restarts UF6 Production

In July, Honeywell’s Metropolis Works conversion facility restarted uranium hexafluoride (UF6) production after a lengthy shutdown that was necessitated by adverse market conditions. In early 2021, Honeywell announced the planned restart of the plant after ConverDyn was able to secure sufficient long-term contracts to support restart of the facility. The facility was expected to resume UF6 production in April 2023, but suffered a series of delays. Restart of the facility was anxiously awaited by nuclear fuel market participants.
