Jessica Boutteau Appointed Chair of World Nuclear Transport Institute

The World Nuclear Transport Institute is pleased to announce the appointment of Jessica Boutteau as Chair from the 1 October 2024. Jessica succeeds Chris Watson, who having held the post since 2020 leaves WNTI to focus on new challenges. Chris has worked tirelessly and with unwavering dedication during those 4 years, to re-shape WNTI and prepare it for the future.

Jessica aims to build on that work, and address the evolving challenges, and capitalise on opportunities within nuclear transport. With various initiatives planned and underway the future for WNTI is looking exciting, not least with the new CEO looking to take office early in 2025.

Jessica brings two decades of  nuclear and broader energy sector experience to the WNTI Chair role, having worked across   engineering, mergers and acquisitions, and strategy. France-based, she is currently VP Transport & Services Business Line at Orano NPS. Jessica was appointed to the WNTI Board 2 years ago, and been supportive of driving the changes Chris initiated.

Transport, and WNTI, are critical to the future success of the global nuclear industry. Jessica is delighted to be taking the reins at WNTI at this pivotal time, and fostering collaboration and growth among members and stakeholders.

Outgoing Chair Chris Watson reflected on his tenure:

“Serving on the WNTI Board for the past six and a half years and leading as Chair for the last four has been a privilege. Over the past quarter of a century, WNTI has retained a proud record in global safety and security  related to  radioactive material transport.

The past year has seen a remarkable transformation within WNTI,  geared towards modernisation and change in preparation for another 25 years of successful operation. I am grateful for the Board’s full support and encouragement during this period.
