5 February 2024

We would like to announce the impending departure of our Secretary General,
Mr. Martin Porter, who is set to depart from the World Nuclear Transport Institute on 31st March 2024, after his successful four-year tenure. His dedication, innovative leadership and thoughtful guidance have played a pivotal role in the progress made and achievements delivered by WNTI during his time in office.

His significant contributions will have a lasting impact on the WNTI community. Under his leadership, the Institute has flourished in establishing collaborative relationships within our industry and maintaining an unwavering commitment to nuclear safety and security. It goes without saying that he will be greatly missed by everyone who has worked with him during his time at WNTI. The expertise, ideas and enthusiasm he brought to our organisation have not only helped it to grow but have also helped each one of us grow professionally and personally. His loss will be felt throughout our WNTI.

As he ventures onto his next chapter, please join us in expressing our heartfelt gratitude to Martin and wishing him every success in his future endeavours. It has been a pleasure working with him and we look forward to any opportunity for our paths to cross again.

“It has been my honour and pleasure to serve the members of WNTI and engage our stakeholders over the last four years and I will take with me many memories of fantastic people and great experiences. I would like to thank the WNTI Board for giving me the opportunity to lead this wonderful Institute and I sincerely hope that the work we have delivered in my time has furthered the mission and laid sound foundations for WNTI’s future. Whilst the global pandemic and geo – political tensions challenged the environment in which we operate, I have much pride in the way that all at WNTI showed resilience and found a way to deliver operations in the face of adversity. The adoption of agile working to deliver SAMMs in lockdown, the success of the rescheduled PATRAM, the establishment of the Portfolio Board, the introduction of new delivery streams, the influx of new members and the strength of our many stakeholder interfaces are demonstrable evidence of the quality and capability of the organisation. I hope and trust my successor will build and deliver even greater achievements. I wish all at WNTI the very best for the future at this exciting time for the global nuclear industry.”

– Martin Porter, WNTI Secretary General

We plan to celebrate Martin’s time at WNTI appropriately in the coming weeks and further details will be provided in due course. We also expect to share an announcement regarding the search for a suitable replacement in the near future.

As we navigate this transitional period, we would like to reassure all our members and colleagues that we are committed to maintaining the standards of excellence and professionalism that were central to Martin’s vision for WNTI.

Thank you for your understanding and support during this time.
