Gentilly-1 Fuel Transfer Project Completed with NAC OPTIMUS®-H Cask

In July, Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) announced that it completed the Gentilly-1 Fuel Consolidation Project, transferring all of the spent nuclear fuel from the Gentilly-1 waste management facility in Quebec to Chalk River Laboratories (CRL). Completion of this project will assist in the nuclear decommission and remediation of the Gentilly-1 site.

In order to transfer the spent fuel, it was packaged and transported in NAC International Inc.’s (NAC) OPTIMUS®-H cask system. More than 3,000 spent fuel bundles were transported to CRL in Ontario from the Gentilly site in Quebec.
