The World Nuclear Transport Institute (WNTI) are excited to announce that Langer Heinrich Uranium (Pty) Ltd (LHU), a significant uranium producer based in Namibia, has joined the World Nuclear Transport Institute.

LHU, owned 75% by Paladin Energy and 25% by China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), operates the Langer Heinrich Mine, situated approximately 80km east of Swakopmund and 85km northeast of Walvis Bay. The mine, discovered in 1973 and acquired by Paladin in 2002 from Aztec Resources Ltd, has a 17-year operational lifespan and is expected to produce 77 million pounds of U3O8.

In recent years, LHU has established a strong uranium offtake portfolio, benefiting from a market with increasing demand for clean energy solutions. By joining WNTI, the company gains access to expertise and resources aimed at enhancing the safety and efficiency of nuclear material transport across the globe.

LHU has built its operations and partnerships on the foundation of four guiding values: Integrity, Respect, Courage, and Community. These principles are central to the company’s daily operations and its efforts to contribute to a sustainable energy future.

Joining WNTI reflects LHU’s continued focus on aligning with international standards and contributing to the safe, secure, and sustainable development of the nuclear energy sector.
