During the WNA Transport Working Group, one WNTI member mentioned that The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) published the comments on the Packaging and Transport of Nuclear Substances Regulations, 2015 and the Nuclear Substances and Radiation Devices Regulations.

Background: CNSC has posted a discussion paper (No. DIS-24-01) for public comment from 2 April  to 14 June, 2024. The goal of the discussion paper was to seek feedback on the proposed amendments to the NSRDR and PTNSR 2015 from the nuclear industry, Indigenous Nations and communities, and other interested parties. the CNSC discussion paper can be downloaded for your reference.

Stakeholder suggestions promoted the harmonization of Canadian regulations with international/International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) regulatory regimes and guidance, requested greater clarity around terms and new definitions, and proposed removing perceived regulatory duplication.

The CNSC published the comments they received at https://www.cnsc-ccsn.gc.ca/eng/acts-and-regulations/consultation/history/wwhr-dis-24-01/
