Kei Ito joined Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) in 1994.
As an engineer, he gained 10 years of experience in underground power cable construction in the Tokyo area and the design of 1,000 kV overhead power Transmission.
Following that, he worked at the TEPCO R&D Institute as a researcher, conducting research on energy scenario analysis aimed at achieving carbon neutrality by combining zero-emission power sources such as nuclear power generation with the demand-side electrification(ex. heat pumps).
Since the accident at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station, he has been involved in decontamination office in Fukushima Prefecture for 5 years. Then he has participated in the development of robots for decommissioning operations in Fukushima Daiichi.
In 2023, he assumed the General Manager of Management Strategy Research Office, TEPCO Research Institute.
In 2025, he assumed the Secretary General of Overseas Reprocessing Committee (ORC).

Outside work Kei enjoys tennis with his daughter.
