The Spliethoff Group Joins World Nuclear Transport Institute

The World Nuclear Transport Institute (WNTI) is pleased to introduce the Spliethoff Group, one of the Netherlands' largest shipping companies, to its membership. Headquartered in Amsterdam, the Spliethoff Group brings over 100 years of maritime expertise to WNTI and has been involved in the carriage of radioactive cargo for many years, further strengthening the organisation's network of industry leaders.

The Spliethoff Group operates across a diverse range of sectors, offering services such as dry cargo, breakbulk and project cargo under its Spliethoff and ForestWave brands. Additionally, it specialises in project and heavy lifts (BigLift Shipping), container and Ro-Ro cargo as well as door-to-door services (Transfennica and Transfennica Logistics). The Group also provides shortsea solutions (Wijnne Barends), yacht transport (Sevenstar Yacht Transport and DYT Yacht Transport), and acts as a tonnage provider (Bore).

With a fleet exceeding 145 vessels, the company is equipped to handle complex shipping requirements. Its vessels, ranging from 2,100 to 44,500 tonnes, include multipurpose, geared tween deckers, heavy lift vessels, shortsea vessels, Ro-Ro vessels, and semi-submersible vessels. The fleet’s adaptability ensures the safe and efficient transport of cargo, even in challenging environments. Many of its vessels are built to Swedish/Finnish Ice Class 1A standards, with some certified to the higher 1A Super class.
