This fact sheet focusses on UF6, including its hazards and risks and how UF6 fits within the nuclear fuel cycle. Its purpose is to provide communicators and educators with clear and concise information that can be shared broadly.

The information is intended to be understood by both technical and non-technical people and is aimed at persons having little or no knowledge of the nuclear fuel cycle industry or of the transport of radioactive materials.

This fact sheet also provides basic information on chemical and radiological protection requirements applicable in response to any accidents, including protection from the corrosive and toxic by-products of UF6 when reacting with moist air.
